The Mount Announces The Return Of NIGHTWOOD: An Immersive Outdoor Sound And Light Show
Edith Wharton’s Home, The Mount, announces the return of its winter sound and light show, NightWood from November 21 t0 January 3, 2026. Now in its sixth season, NightWood features a fantastical landscape where light, music and nature come together under the stars.
This year’s installation features two new encounters, enhanced lighting and sound elements and a redesigned return path.
Created by lighting designer Chris Bocchiaro of Clerestory Light, NightWood transforms The Mount’s historic grounds.
“We are thrilled to be back for the sixth year of NightWood. It’s our vision to bring out the magic of The Mount as darkness falls and winter creeps in,” says Chris Bocchiaro. “Last year, we envisioned the entire beginning of the NightWood path. This year, we’ve added two new encounters and enhanced several encounters to incorporate new surprises within this amazing landscape. Our team of fifteen artists and technicians will begin the installations on November 1st.”

Tickets are required and can be purchased at EdithWharton.org or by calling 413-551-5111. Admission is free for children 12 and under. New this year, the NightWood Season Pass offers unlimited visits throughout the run, plus free admission for up to four youths (ages 13–18) per passholder.
