Farm And Field Announces Fall Workshop Series: Connect With Art And Nature

Hudson Valley, NY – Farm and Field, a unique space blending art, nature, and agriculture, is thrilled to announce its fall workshop series. Founded by Jill Duffy, a multifaceted artist and grower known for her work with handmade natural pigments, Farm and Field offers an inspiring environment for creativity and learning on its 210-acre active farm in Chatham, NY.

Workshop Highlights:
This fall, Farm and Field presents a variety of workshops designed to inspire and connect participants to nature. These workshops are perfect for anyone looking to deepen or explore artistic skills, connect with nature, and enjoy the beauty of the Hudson Valley. Participants will learn to responsibly forage and gather natural materials while walking the farm and fields, enjoy a farm-to-table lunch, and engage in hands-on work with Jill in the barn studio. Early registration is recommended due to limited spots.

Botanical Ink Making

  • Date: Saturday, September 28, 10-4 PM
  • Fee: $285.00
  • Description: Discover the process of creating inks from plants and flowers found and grown in the Hudson Valley. Learn about different plants and techniques to then produce vibrant, natural inks to take home with you.

Indigo Fresh Leaf Dying and Flower Pounding

  • Date: Saturday, October 5, 10-3 PM
  • Fee: $225.00, including materials
  • Description: In collaboration with fiber artist and natural dyer Laura Berkowitz Gilbert of Tocco Studio, discover the magic of fresh indigo and flower pounding. Dye your own silk bandanna with a beautiful range of turquoise hues and learn Tatakizome, the Japanese leaf pounding technique to design a cotton tote using foraged botanicals.

Earth Pigments & Paint Making

  • Date: Saturday, October 19, 10-4 PM
  • Fee: $285.00
  • Description: Explore the art of making paints from soil, rocks and clay. Participants will gain insight into sourcing and processing natural materials into pigment and then mull into their own paints.

Customize a Workshop In addition to scheduled workshops, Farm and Field offers bespoke one-on-one or small group workshops tailored to individual experience levels and interests, available for all ages.

All workshops include a foraging walk and a farm-to-table lunch.
