FILMCOLUMBIA 2023 IS MORE LOCAL THAN EVER!

FilmColumbia, in Chatham, NY, is celebrating its 23rd year in 2023. The festival opens on October 20 and runs for ten days at the historic Crandell Theatre. Over its history, FilmColumbia has gained a reputation for showcasing some of the best American and international films, including features, documentaries, and shorts. Notably, 102 films that have been screened at the festival have gone on to receive Academy Award nominations, with 25 of them winning the prestigious award.

The festival is curated by Co-Executive and Co-Artistic Directors Peter Biskind and Laurence Kardish, and it is run by Festival Director Calliope Nicholas. For this year’s edition, FC23 will continue its tradition of presenting a high-quality selection of upcoming films from around the world. However, it appears that there is a greater emphasis on highlighting local talent and locations, suggesting a special focus on films and filmmakers with connections to the Chatham, NY area.
